How do I join?

Send us a message on Facebook to join a waiting list. The best time is before your child turns 4, because Squirrels is where most young people join us. See Join us for how the waiting lists work.

Which waiting lists are open?

Our lists open and close during the year. Our Facebook page always says which are open.

My child is older than 4. Can they still join?

Places in Cubs and Scouts go to young people moving up from our younger sections first, so spaces for newcomers are rare. When one comes up, we advertise it on Facebook. Other Scout groups nearby may have space; our Admissions Policy lists them.

Does my child have to come every week?

We ask everyone to come to at least half of the meetings each term. If that isn’t possible, the place may be offered to someone else, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Meetings

Where do you meet?

At our Scout hut on Nanpantan Road, Loughborough LE11 3YE.

What uniform do they need?

  • Squirrels: red Squirrels sweatshirt
  • Beavers: turquoise Beavers sweatshirt
  • Cubs: green Cubs sweatshirt
  • Scouts: teal-green Scouts shirt or blouse

All sections also wear our group necker. Ask your child’s leaders when they start.

What badges can they earn?

Each section has its own badges. You can see them all on the Scouts website: Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts.

Getting involved

Can I help out?

Yes, please! See Volunteer with us. If you volunteer every week as a uniformed leader, your child can join as soon as a space becomes available.

Can I hire your hut?

Yes. See Venue hire for prices and booking.
