We’d love your child to join us. Places are popular, so we use waiting lists, and the best time to get a name down is before your child turns 4.
To join a waiting list, send us a message on Facebook. Tell us your child’s age and which section you’re interested in.

Our waiting lists open and close during the year, and our Facebook page always says which are open.
How places are offered
Squirrels (ages 4 to 6) is where most young people join us.
- Only children under 4 can be added to the Squirrels waiting list, so add your child as early as you can.
- When your child turns 4, a place is offered in waiting-list order, as places become free.
- A Squirrels place is offered once. If you don’t take it up, you can move to the Beavers waiting list instead.
Beavers (ages 6 to 8) places come from the Squirrels waiting list. It isn’t possible to join the Beavers list any other way.
Cubs and Scouts places go to young people moving up from our younger sections first. If a space does come up, we advertise it on Facebook and offer it first come, first served. This doesn’t happen often, so please don’t rely on it.
Leaders who volunteer with us every week can have their child join as soon as a space becomes available. If that interests you, see Volunteer with us.
Once your child has a place, we ask them to come to at least half of the meetings each term so that places go to young people who can use them.
For the full rules, see our Admissions Policy.
